Chateau Miraval Dispute
Angelina Jolie secures court win as judge denies Brad Pitt access to private emails
In a significant development in the ongoing Chateau Miraval dispute, Angelina Jolie has secured a favourable ruling against Brad Pitt. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied Pitt’s request to access private emails linked to Jolie’s sale of her stake in the French winery.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the judge ruled that Pitt “has not met his burden” to override Jolie’s claim that the communications are protected. The motion was denied without prejudice, allowing Pitt the option to revisit the issue later. Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, called the ruling a major win, stating that Pitt’s demand for privileged documents was “out of bounds.” He added that Pitt initially sought 126 documents before narrowing it down to 22, but ultimately received none.
The legal battle centres around Chateau Miraval, once jointly owned by the former couple. Pitt has been seeking access to communications related to Jolie’s 2021 sale of her stake, arguing they were not protected by attorney-client privilege. However, Jolie maintained that the emails formed part of her legal strategy. The dispute traces back to Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit alleging that Jolie sold her share to Tenute del Mondo, part of the Stoli Group, without his consent.
Email access denied
The court ruled that Brad Pitt failed to justify access to Angelina Jolie’s private emails, upholding attorney-client privilege protections in the case.
Lawyer calls it victory
Jolie’s counsel termed the decision a major win, highlighting Pitt’s failed attempts to obtain dozens of confidential legal communications.
Miraval dispute continues
The ruling marks another turn in the ongoing legal battle over Chateau Miraval, with both sides continuing to contest ownership and agreements.
