On the occasion of World Arthritis Day on October 12, an awareness cyclothon "Pedal for Arthritis Awareness" was organized by Yashoda Hospitals from Secunderabad Yashoda to Necklace Road on Sunday to create awareness about Arthritis and highlighting the importance of physical activity, active lifestyle and joint mobility. Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospitals flagged off the Cyclothon. The event saw a participation of around 500+ cyclists with the Arthritis Day message of “Movement is Freedom”.
Dr. Pavan Gorukanti mentioned that the cyclothon serves as an initiative to raise awareness about arthritis, encourage early diagnosis and promote timely treatment. The initiative was led by Dr. Vikram Byre, senior orthopaedic surgeon and robotic joint replacement specialist who mentioned that appropriate movement and regular physical activity are among the most important ways of maintaining joint function and mobility for Arthritis patients. The occasion was also graced by many doctors and staff of Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad along with Dr. Vijay Kumar, Unit Head; Dr. A. Lingaiah Medical Director and Dr. Vishnu Reddy , Yashoda Hospitals Medical Services.
