South Central Railway (SCR) has received seven ISO 50001:2018 certifications for implementing energy-efficient practices at its administrative buildings, railway stations and maintenance facilities.

The certifications cover Kacheguda Railway Station, Rail Nilayam (SCR headquarters), Central Hospital at Lallaguda, Lekha Bhavan (SCR Accounts Building), the Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Marketing) office at the PRS Complex in Secunderabad, the Chief Crew Controller Office (Running Room) in Secunderabad and the Routine Overhauling (ROH) Shed at Ramagundam. The facilities were selected based on energy savings, reduction in specific energy consumption and the adoption of energy management practices in their daily operations.

The measures include efficient power supply and maintenance systems, backup power and cooling facilities at the PRS Complex, energy conservation in crew rest rooms and catering facilities, and improved energy management in wagon overhauling and maintenance at Ramagundam.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad and Hyderabad, and their teams on securing the certifications. He said SCR had been at the forefront of adopting energy conservation practices and expressed satisfaction over the zone’s continued recognition for its efforts to improve energy efficiency.
