TPCC Vice-President and Congress Party In-charge for Sanathnagar Assembly Constituency, Dr. Kota Neelima urged devotees to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi with devotion while giving equal importance to environmental conservation. Ahead of Vinayaka Chavithi, the Ameerpet Divisional Congress Committee organised a distribution program of eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols at Satyam Theatre Circle under the leadership of Ameerpet Divisional Congress President Srikanth Yadav. Dr. Neelima, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and distributed clay Ganesha idols to local residents.
Dr. Kota Neelima pointed out that idols made of plaster of Paris and coated with chemical-based colours can contribute to the pollution of lakes, ponds and other water bodies during immersion. In contrast, clay idols are more environmentally sustainable and can dissolve naturally in water, thereby helping minimise the adverse impact of idol immersion on aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Kota Neelima appreciated the initiative to distribute clay Ganesha idols as a meaningful effort to promote environmental consciousness while respecting the religious sentiments and traditions associated with Vinayaka Chavithi.
