YRP Foundation distributes 20,000 eco-friendly Ganesha idols

With the aim of promoting environmental protection while preserving the spirit of traditional festivals, the YRP Foundation is distributing 20,000 eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols in Hyderabad and Nalgonda districts on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi this year. The foundation’s eco-friendly initiative has entered its ninth consecutive year. The organisation seeks to encourage people to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with devotion while also adopting practices that are safe for the environment.

A unique feature of this year’s idols is that they contain plant seeds. After the festival, devotees can place the idol in a pot or directly in the soil and water it. As the clay gradually dissolves, the embedded seed can germinate and grow into a plant. Yelishala Ravi Prasad, founder of the YRP Foundation and founder and chairman of Vaishnavi Group, said the festival should be celebrated in a way that does not harm nature. He said the foundation had been carrying out the initiative for the past nine years and would continue encouraging more people to adopt eco-friendly celebrations.
