BIPA seeks national policy on biological input integration

The BioAgri Input Producers Association (BIPA), described as the world’s oldest trade body dedicated to agricultural biologicals, has called for a phased 25% reduction in chemical fertilizer and pesticide usage through the scientific integration of biological inputs. This proposal is expected to be discussed at BIOAGRI 2026, the sixth Annual BioAgri Industry Summit scheduled at Ramoji Film City on October 7 and 8. The association estimates that the move could potentially save the national exchequer Rs 40,000 crore annually, while reducing farm input costs, import dependence and improving soil health. 

Themed “Biological Intelligence & Smart Agriculture,” the summit is expected to bring together over 250 delegates, 35 speakers and 50 exhibitors, including scientists, researchers, startups, policymakers and regulators. BIPA President Dr A. John Peter, Secretary General Dr Venkatesh Devanur, Vice-President Praharaju Laxminarayana and Joint Treasurer C.H.V. Srinivas said biologicals should complement, rather than simply replace, chemical inputs. BIOAGRI 2026 will feature the BIPA Startup Challenge, an exhibition and discussions on biotechnology, artificial intelligence, precision agriculture and smart farming.
