You may term it as a ‘tweet’ for tat’ (pun intended). In response to Kerala CM’s seven tweets comparing Telangana and Kerala on various social parameters, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued a detailed response to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, addressing a series of claims made regarding development indicators and governance models. In his communication, the Chief Minister underscored that several statistics cited by the Kerala leadership are outdated and fail to reflect current realities, particularly Telangana’s progress over the last 28 months.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that comparisons based on past data do not capture Telangana’s recent turnaround, emphasizing that the state’s governance reforms and welfare initiatives are delivering measurable outcomes. He presented a point by point rebuttal, clarifying that Kerala’s achievements are the result of decades of cumulative governance, whereas Telangana, being a relatively young state, is rapidly closing gaps within a short span.
Addressing social indicators, he noted that literacy improvements in Telangana have been significant since state formation, while healthcare expansion and institutional delivery rates are improving steadily. He also highlighted that Telangana is implementing lessons from across India and globally, reflecting an adaptive and progressive governance model.
The Chief Minister strongly defended Telangana’s economic performance, stating that the state recorded a growth rate of 10.1 percent in 2024 to 25, surpassing the national average. With a per capita income nearly twice the national figure, Telangana now ranks among the top states in economic indicators. He stressed that despite its smaller geographical and population share, Telangana contributes nearly 5 percent to India’s GDP.
Highlighting welfare achievements, the government has implemented large scale farmer support schemes, women empowerment initiatives such as free bus travel, subsidized LPG, and free electricity, along with employment generation through public and private sector growth. Housing, healthcare, pensions, and food security programmes have reached millions, ensuring inclusive development across sectors.
Revanth Reddy also raised concerns about structural challenges in Kerala, including brain drain, dependence on remittances, and industrial stagnation. He argued that sustainable growth requires balancing welfare with economic expansion and job creation.
Further, the Telangana Chief Minister extended an invitation to his Kerala counterpart for a constructive and fact based dialogue, reiterating mutual respect while asserting that Telangana’s governance model is forward looking, performance driven, and focused on delivering tangible results to its people.
