Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao has alleged a serious conspiracy by the Congress government to divert nearly 200 acres of prime land at Koheda, originally earmarked for a world class fruit market, to private interests. He further claimed that the land, valued at Rs 3,000 crore, is being targeted for transfer to TGIIC and eventually to private entities. Accompanied by former Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and other BRS leaders, he visited the proposed site and voiced strong concern.

Addressing the media, Harish Rao clarified that his visit was not political but aimed at standing with farmers. He stressed that the issue concerns the livelihoods of thousands and urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Agriculture Minister to prioritize farmers over middlemen.

He recalled that during the BRS government, 200 acres were acquired for the Koheda Fruit Market, with Rs 10 crore paid as compensation to farmers. The project was notified under GO No. 11 in 2020, while Rs 350 crore was earmarked under GO 216 for construction. A Detailed Project Report worth Rs 1,000 crore was also prepared to develop integrated fruit, flower, and fish markets, designed to meet future needs for decades.

Despite land, funds, and clearances being in place, Harish Rao alleged that the present government is deliberately stalling the project. He questioned whether the interests of 25,000 to 30,000 farmers would be sacrificed to benefit a few middlemen.
