As part of the ongoing Swachh Andhra - Swachh Divas campaign, a walkathon was flagged off by the Chief Secretary K Vijayanand to raise public awareness about waste segregation and sustainable waste management. The rally started from Rajiv Nagar and proceeded through Sundarayya Nagar and Prakash Nagar, with enthusiastic participation from citizens and municipal staff.
The civic body has banned the use of plastic items below 120 microns and is actively conducting awareness programs to educate both consumers and vendors about the restrictions. Soon, enforcement measures will be implemented to ensure compliance. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra, Vijayanand urged every citizen to fulfill their responsibility.
