Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi with devotion in Hyderabad

The Sikh community in Hyderabad celebrated the 327th Khalsa Panth Foundation Day, popularly known as Vaisakhi, with great fervour and devotion on Tuesday, marked by prayers, processions and community service.

The celebrations were organised under the aegis of the Prabhandak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet, with the main congregation held at Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Playground, Ameerpet. Hundreds of devotees from across Telangana and other communities participated in the Vishaal Deewan held from morning till 5 pm. Gurudwara committee president Darshan Singh and general secretary Surender Singh welcomed the devotees.

Renowned Ragi Jathas and preachers including Bhai S Gurdev Singh, Gyani Gagandeep Singh, Bhai S Manpreet Singh and Bhai Veer Singh rendered Gurbani keertans and delivered sermons, highlighting the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and values such as communal harmony, brotherhood and peace.

Following the congregation, Guru-ka-Langar was served to all devotees. Later, a colourful Nagar Keertan procession was taken out from the gurudwara, passing through Greenlands, Begumpet and Punjagutta before returning. The procession featured the ceremonial carrying of Guru Granth Sahib on a decorated vehicle, Nishaan Sahib flag bearers and vibrant Gatka performances by Sikh youth, attracting large crowds.

Devotees and passers-by were served kada prasad, tea and snacks along the route. A Vaisakhi Raen Sabai Keertan Darbar will be held from 9 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. on April 15 at Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Playground, where the same Ragi Jathas will render Shadab Keertans.
