Revanth joins high stakes Kerala poll battle

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is all set to take part in the high-voltage campaign for the upcoming 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly election.

He left to Thiruvanthapuram from Hyderabad on Tuesday evening by a special flight. The visit comes after his earlier campaign schedule in Kerala was postponed last week, and signals the Congress party’s renewed push to strengthen its prospects in the southern state. Polling in Kerala is scheduled for April 9 across all 140 constituencies, with results to be declared on May 4, in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested election.

Kerala’s political landscape is witnessing an intense triangular contest between the ruling Left Democratic Front led by Pinarayi Vijayan, the Congress-led United Democratic Front, and an increasingly assertive BJP attempting to expand its footprint. Recent developments, including aggressive campaigning and competing welfare promises, underline the high stakes involved.

Revanth Reddy, emerging as a prominent Congress face from Telangana, is expected to campaign extensively, projecting the party’s governance narrative and mobilising support for UDF candidates. His participation reflects the Congress high command’s strategy of deploying strong regional leaders to energise cadres and counter both the Left and BJP narratives in Kerala’s crucial electoral battle.
