Pani Puri vendor arrested in SBI ATM burglar case

The Moghalpura police arrested the accused person, who was involved in a SBI ATM burglar case reported on February 15, 2025 at Moghalpura Police Station in Hyderabad. Arrested person was identified as Honmane Kashinath (24), Pani Puri vendor, resident of Aliyabad, Hyderabad.

Syed Mahammad Rafi, the SBI Branch Manager, Shalibanda Branch filed a complaint regarding ATM damage and breaking into stolen money stated that their branch operates from 9:30am to 7pm, with the ATM accessible 24 hours. At approximately 9:45am on the same day, he received a call from the service manager informing him that the ATM shutter was half-closed.

Upon inspection, the ATM machine was found broken and damaged. Rafi arrived at the scene around 9:50am and confirmed the ATM Machine was damage. Based on his information registered a case and took up the investigation. The Moghalpura police were immediately rushed to spot and notified CCTV footage on observing the footage it revealed that a suspect entered the ATM room at approximately 3:50am, closed the shutter, and remained inside until 5:05am.

During this time, the suspect forcibly opened and damaged the ATM (ADWM), attempted to remove the cash cassettes, but was unsuccessful. The suspect steal the cash retract box containing rejected and counterfeit notes. Upon inspection by an ATM technician, it was confirmed that all cash cassettes, containing Rs 7,70,100, were intact. No cash was stolen, but the ADWM was completely damaged.

Driven by a severe addiction to online games like Rummy and Roulette, the accused accumulated substantial debt, reaching approximately Rs 30,00,000, through loans and from friends and online loan applications. In a desperate attempt to alleviate this financial burden, he resolved to commit theft by targeting an ATM, said Police.
