BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has called for people to give the Congress government a “holiday”, accusing it of failing to fulfil its poll promises while neglecting farmers, industries and employees.

He said the Congress had declared a “holiday” for its 420 promises and six guarantees, besides ushering in a crop holiday, power holiday and delays in pay revision and retirement benefits. While the party had promised a farmers’ declaration before the elections, it was now asking farmers to submit self-declarations to protect their own crops, he alleged.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of forcing farmers to depend on generators and water tankers to save their crops amid drought conditions. He said some farmers had even been driven to the point of burning their crops.

KTR demanded immediate release of pending Rythu Bandhu funds, completion of irrigation projects, uninterrupted power supply and urgent relief for farmers affected by the drought. He said the government was responsible for the crisis and described it as a “drought created by Congress”, rather than a natural calamity.

‘Why Musi beautification when crops are drying up?’

KTR questioned the Musi beautification project amid irrigation shortages, power cuts and drought. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy planned to siphon off Rs 1.5 lakh crore through commissions without preparing a detailed project report. Demanding an immediate halt, he accused the government of ignoring public concerns, suppressing affected residents’ voices and misusing the Asian Development Bank loan proposal. He said the BRS was fighting for project-affected people while Congress leaders benefited from commissions and contracts.

‘No power under Congress’

KTR accused the government of failing to address water shortages, power cuts and delayed welfare payments. He demanded release of pending Rythu Bandhu funds, revival of Rythu Bima and completion of irrigation projects. He criticised the lack of investigation into Medigadda barrage damage.

Praising Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu’s drought management, he said Telangana was faring worse despite a lower rainfall deficit. Warning that industrial power holidays could force factory closures, he urged the government to prioritise drought relief, irrigation and reliable electricity over publicity campaigns.

KTR alleged that Telangana had become an “ATM for Rahul Gandhi” and accused the Congress government of ignoring corruption allegations, drought and administrative failures.

Calling the proposed Global Summit a “Goebbels Summit”, he criticised the government for spending hundreds of crores on publicity while farmers faced distress and industries suffered power cuts. He claimed the government had failed to generate investments and jobs, citing an alleged decline of 7,000 IT jobs from the 9.46 lakh recorded when the BRS left office.

Questioning the summit’s purpose amid water and power shortages, KTR demanded a white paper on foreign visits, MoUs, investments received and jobs created. He said the BRS had attracted substantial investments during its decade in power without such summits, and urged the government to prioritise reliable infrastructure and drought relief over publicity.
