The Nalgonda Railway Station, under Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway, is being redeveloped at a cost of Rs 17.01 crores through the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), which is aimed at the redevelopment of stations to provide world-class facilities to passengers. The station caters to nearly 3,000 passengers daily and handles about 44 trains per day, including DEMU/MEMU services.

The Nalgonda Railway Station is classified as a Non Suburban Grade‑4 station and plays a crucial role in connecting passengers from the region to Hyderabad and other surrounding areas. The redevelopment works proposed include construction of a 12‑metre wide Foot-Over-Bridge(FOB), provision of additional cover over platforms measuring 3,309 sqm, development of circulating area with landscaping, platform surfacing over 9,657 sqm, and interior renovation of the concourse, VIP lounge, waiting halls and toilets.

The plan also encompasses installation of Divyangjan‑friendly facilities, new signages, modern furniture and facade improvement to enhance passenger convenience and station aesthetics. Several works have already been completed, including cover over platforms, installation of lifts, platform surfacing, approach road development, parking facilities, circulating area improvement and renovation of waiting halls.

The on-going works, such as the Foot Over Bridge, facade improvement, and Divyangjan facilities, are progressing expeditiously. This redevelopment substantially improves passenger amenities, accessibility and overall travel experience. In Telangana, 40 Railway Stations are being redeveloped at an estimated cost of over Rs 2,000 crores.
