Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, alleging that Telangana had been pushed into a deep crisis during the last two and a half years of Congress rule.
Addressing a BRS constituency level party workers' meeting in Wardhannapet constituency of Warangal district, KTR claimed that the Congress government's recent decision on paddy procurement would severely harm the farming community and drive farmers into distress.
KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy had reversed his earlier stand on paddy procurement. He recalled that the Chief Minister had once demanded procurement of every grain produced by farmers and had criticised the Centre on the issue. However, the State government's latest decision to procure paddy only within the limits prescribed by the Centre would leave farmers vulnerable from the next agricultural season, he claimed. Describing the move as a "death warrant" for Telangana farmers, KTR accused the government of abandoning its responsibility towards the agricultural sector.
The BRS leader further alleged that farmers were already struggling due to shortages of fertilisers and seeds, power related issues and the discontinuation of several welfare measures introduced during the previous BRS regime. He charged the Congress government with failing to implement its election promises and misleading all sections of society. KTR said the Congress government had failed to deliver any major development initiative or welfare programme benefiting the people of Telangana.
He accused the administration of focusing on commissions and political interests rather than governance and public welfare. He also criticised the Chief Minister's frequent visits to New Delhi, alleging that the State had not secured significant benefits despite repeated engagements with the Centre.
Targeting the Congress leadership, KTR alleged that opposition leaders and BRS workers were being subjected to harassment. He warned that those responsible for targeting BRS cadre would be held accountable in the future.
Assuring party workers of stronger support from the leadership, KTR acknowledged that the BRS had focused primarily on governance during its ten year tenure and had not paid adequate attention to cadre welfare. He promised that the party would prioritise the development and protection of its workers over the next five years and expressed confidence that BRS would return to power under K. Chandrashekar Rao's leadership.
