BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Wednesday strongly condemned the brutal killing of an infant in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool district, describing it as a “heinous and inhuman” incident that has left the entire Telangana society anguished and ashamed.

After visiting the bereaved family and offering his condolences, KTR stated that he had come not as a political leader but as a father and a concerned citizen to stand by the family in their hour of grief. He demanded that all eight persons involved in the attack be immediately booked under murder charges and arrested without delay. “Whoever the accused may be, and whichever party they belong to, they must be sent to jail,” he asserted.

KTR alleged that the State government was attempting to shield the accused by misusing its authority and influencing the police investigation. He criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with the local MLA and MP, for remaining silent and allegedly extending support to the perpetrators. “Anyone who stands by the killers of an innocent child is equally guilty,” he said.

Terming the incident a blot on society, KTR said it was shameful that even in the 21st century, caste-based discrimination and mob violence continue to claim innocent lives. He emphasized that justice for the child must transcend politics and called upon the media, political leaders, and civil society to unite in support of the victim’s family.

Apart from demanding strict punishment, including the harshest possible penalty for the culprits, KTR sought Rs 1 crore compensation for the family. He also assured financial assistance from his side, announcing Rs 10 lakh support to construct a house and extending immediate relief of Rs 1 lakh to the family.

KTR reiterated that the fight for justice would continue until the family receives full justice. Whoever the accused may be, and whichever party they belong to, they must be sent to jail
