The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Maheshwaram Zone, in collaboration with the Abdullapurmet Police, seized 300 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs 1,05,00,000 on Thursday.

This operation has led to the apprehension of one key suspect involved in an interstate drug syndicate. The arrested individual, Ahmed Gulab Shaik, a 56-year-old driver from Nigidi, Rupi Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra, was transporting the contraband. Ahmed's financial struggles led him to accept an offer from drug peddlers Vaibhav and Deva, also from Pune. They promised him Rs 3,00,000 per consignment for transporting ganja from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to Pune.

On his third run, Ahmed traveled to Vishakhapatnam to collect 300 kilograms of ganja from a supplier named Bujji Babu, who remains at large. He concealed the contraband in a TATA container filled with plastic scrap to avoid detection. On February 20, acting on a tip-off, the police teams intercepted the container on NH-65 near Ramoji Film City. The ganja was seized, and Ahmed was arrested.
