Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) on Sunday launched a scathing attack on former MP Kesineni Nani, accusing him of defaulting on bank loans, evading tax liabilities and acting as a political tool for the YSR Congress Party. Addressing a press conference at his office in Vijayawada, Chinni said he was responding to a sustained social media campaign targeting him and his family members. During the media interaction, he raised a series of questions regarding Nani’s financial and political conduct. One of the central allegations made by Chinni concerned an alleged Rs 120-crore loan obtained from Indian Overseas Bank. He questioned why the dues had remained unresolved for more than a decade and demanded clarity on the status of repayments.
“Ordinary farmers and small business owners receive notices for delayed loan repayments, but questions remain over how such a large amount has remained unsettled for years,” Chinni said. He further alleged that properties, including a residence and a hotel associated with Nani, were under mortgage to the bank and sought an explanation regarding their status. The Vijayawada MP also raised questions over alleged GST and other tax dues, claiming that individuals who criticize governments should first clarify their own financial obligations to public institutions.
Shifting focus to politics, Chinni accused the former MP of engaging in a systematic campaign against the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that Nani was attempting to create doubts among the public regarding ongoing development initiatives, welfare programmes, industrial investments and the construction of Amaravati as the state capital. In some of his sharpest remarks, Chinni claimed that Nani was functioning as a political covert of the YSRCP and alleged that criticism directed at the Telugu Desam Party leadership was being driven by a broader political agenda. He further accused the former MP of adopting different political positions at different stages of his career, citing his associations with various parties over the years. Responding to allegations made against him, Chinni categorically denied any involvement in corruption and challenged his critics to produce evidence. “If there is even a single proof that I have engaged in corruption or illegal activities, it should be brought before the public. Baseless allegations and social media campaigns cannot substitute for evidence,” he said.
