Jagga Reddy and Nirmala Review Drinking Water Issues in Sadasivpet Town

16-04-2026 09:22:51 PM

Jaggareddy and Nirmala conducted a detailed review meeting with the Municipal Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Councilors, Municipal Commissioner, and officials from Mission Bhagiratha and the Public Health Department. A plan was formulated to ensure the daily supply of drinking water to every household in Sadasivapet town for a duration of one and a half hours. They directed that the construction of an intake well, filter beds, storage tanks, and new pipelines be undertaken to facilitate the direct supply of Manjeera water from the Singur Dam to every home. Engineering officials have prepared proposals estimating that an expenditure of ₹135 crores would be required to provide a daily water supply of one and a half hours to Sadasivapet.

Engineers stated that while the town's population of 60,000 currently requires 2.1 million gallons of drinking water daily, the newly proposed water scheme would make 5.2 million gallons of water available. Jaggareddy suggested that this scheme be designed with foresight to ensure that no drinking water shortages arise for the next 50 years. Jaggareddy further directed that an emergency meeting of the Municipal Council be convened on the 17th of this month to discuss the water project. He advised that, rising above political affiliations, the opinions of councilors from all political parties—as well as the specific issues prevailing in their respective wards—should be duly recorded.

He also instructed that the local MP and MLA be personally met on the 18th of this month to seek their inputs and opinions on the matter. Finally, he directed that on the 19th of this month, the opinions of the people of Sadasivapet be gathered, and any suggested modifications or additions be duly examined. Jagga Reddy stated that if the final report is submitted to him and Nirmala on the night of that same day, he would present it to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy the following day. Although the project's estimated value is pegged at Rs 135 crore, Jagga Reddy and Nirmala indicated that there would be no objection if this figure were to increase based on public feedback. Emphasizing the urgency of the matter—and in fulfillment of election promises—they announced that priority would be given to resolving the drinking water crisis first; subsequently, separate meetings would be convened to address the allocation of housing plots for the poor and the provision of development funds amounting to Rs 8 crore per ward. They further stated that tenders would be invited immediately upon the approval of the water scheme, and all project works would be completed within two years.
