The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished a fencing erected in violation of norms near Ameenpur Pedda tank in Sangareddy district on Tuesday.

Earlier, the authorities had demolished the compound wall belonging to former YSRCP MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy. But once again the fencing was built. Locals in Rajagopal Nagar and Bandamkommu areas of Ailapur lodged a complaint with HYDRAA. Responding to the plea, HYDRAA officials demolished the structures.

Hydra Commissioner Ranganath ordered the demolition after it was found that encroachment had taken place. Soon after, the hydra bulldozers reached the spot and carried out the demolition. Boards have been put up at the demolition site saying that the land is government land.

Padmavati Nagar Layout has been set up with a total of 294 plots. It is spread over 24 acres of land in survey numbers 193, 194 and 323. With political influence, the layout was occupied and a compound was constructed around the encroachers. The victims alleged that a former MLA from AP and his associates were involved in the encroachment. The victims have been fighting over the issue since around 2006.
