Hyderabad City Police has launched a unique initiative called ‘A Day with the CP’ to familiarize government school students with the police system and encourage them to become responsible citizens. The programme, which began on April 1, will run for 45 days and involves students from Classes 8 to 10 across government high schools in Hyderabad.
Under this initiative, 20 talented students from one school—10 boys and 10 girls—are selected each day. The students spend the entire day, from 10 am to 6 pm, visiting different wings of the police department. This hands-on exposure allows them to observe the functioning of the police in real-time and understand the roles and responsibilities of officers.
The programme was inaugurated at the CCS office in Basheerbagh by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, IPS. During the launch, students from Mangalhat Government School joined a video conference on security arrangements for a major religious procession. They also witnessed the process of receiving and resolving public complaints, giving them practical insight into police work. The students were later presented with books and appreciation certificates.
As part of their visit, the students toured key units including the Integrated Command Control Centre, Main PCR, IT Cell, Special Branch, She Teams, Cyber Crime Wing, and CAR Headquarters. Senior officers explained the use of technology in crime prevention, women’s safety, and law and order management.
Officials stated that the programme is designed to instill respect for law, build trust in the police system, and raise awareness about cybercrime and drug abuse among young students, helping shape them into socially responsible citizens.
