In celebration of International Women’s Day, Hyderabad City Police organized the ‘Run for Action-2025’ at Necklace Road’s People's Plaza. The event drew nearly 5,000 participants and was aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality.
The run was officially flagged off by Minister for Panchayat Raj Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, IPS, and other dignitaries. Speaking at the event, Minister Seethakka commended the police for their efforts in fostering confidence among women and underscored the need for their mental and physical empowerment. She emphasized that women are equally capable as men and called for a society free from discrimination.
Commissioner CV Anand reaffirmed the Hyderabad Police’s commitment to women’s safety, highlighting that 8 out of 20 DCPs in the city are women, and that women make up 30% of the 18,000-strong force. He also announced the appointment of female Station House Officers (SHOs) in both Law and Order and Traffic Police Stations, marking a significant step in leadership representation.
The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about substance abuse. Both Minister Seethakka and Commissioner Anand stressed the urgent need to combat alcoholism and drug abuse, urging collective efforts to create a healthier society.
Participants competed in 5K and 2K runs, with winners receiving awards from Commissioner Anand. Senior police officials, including Additional CPs and DCPs, along with members of the Hyderabad City Security Council, were present at the event.
Minister Seethakka, who actively participated in the run, was lauded for her inspiring journey from humble beginnings to a leadership role. Commissioner Anand acknowledged her as a role model, emphasizing the importance of recognizing women's contributions in all fields.
