SCR, Telangana Govt hold first joint meet on rail projects

SCR seeks Telangana support for land acquisition

In a first-of-its-kind meeting Telangana Government officials and the top brass of South Central railway (SCR) held talks here on Thursday at the SCR headquarters at Rail Nilayam to fast-track key rail infrastructure projects, including ROBs/RUBs, new lines, and proposals for high-speed and regional rail corridors.

K. Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana and Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, GM, SCR led the discussions. During the meeting, the Railway officials presented a detailed project report on various issues pertaining to infrastructure projects such as Road Under Bridges (RUB) /Road Over Bridges (ROB), laying of new Railway lines, station developments, station approaches etc., being executed in the State of Telangana.

An extensive discussion was held on assistance required from State Government during process of sanction and execution of Road Under Bridge/ Road Over Bridge works in Telangana. Railways sought the support of State in terms of NOCs, land acquisition, diversion of traffic, shifting of electric lines, pipelines etc. Further, the officials also discussed the new Railway lines in the state and sought cooperation of State Govt. with regards to land acquisition, cost sharing etc. Preliminary discussions were held on the proposal of High speed Rail corridor connecting Hyderabad with Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune.

The officials also reviewed the proposal of Regional Ring Rail project.  Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR stated that the completion of various on-going Rail infrastructure projects discussed today will not only be beneficial for the people but will also contribute to the economic development of the state. He stated that the support from State Government will greatly accelerate the pace of execution of these projects. The General Manager, SCR thanked the Chief Secretary, Telangana and team of State Government officials for active participation in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Ramakrishna Rao,  emphasized on the need for more such structured meetings and close co-ordination between State Government and Railways. He stated that integrated planning and cooperation between different departments is essential for the development of the state.
