A 46-year-old resident of Sanath Nagar lost Rs 36.16 lakh to illegal loan applications. The victim downloaded two apps, Loan Radar and Quick Funds, from the Google Play Store in August 2025 and initially borrowed small amounts. Despite timely repayments, the apps allegedly credited higher loan sums without consent and began harassing the victim.

From the sixth day of the loan tenure, the victim received threatening calls and morphed obscene images. The apps reportedly accessed the victim’s gallery and contacts during installation, using this data to create pornographic images and threaten to circulate them among contacts.

Between September 2025 and February 2026, around Rs 29 lakh was credited to the victim’s SBI account, while a total of Rs 64.16 lakh was repaid under duress, resulting in a net loss of Rs 36.16 lakh. Authorities advise downloading loan apps only from verified, RBI-registered lenders and checking official RBI listings to prevent such fraud.
