Prasad Seeds steps forward to fund lift irrigation project

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s P4 initiative is receiving an overwhelming and unexpected response from affluent individuals and industrialists across the state. Inspired by the CM’s vision to uplift the underprivileged, several entrepreneurs are coming forward to contribute directly to community welfare. In a significant gesture, a prominent industrialist from Guntur district has volunteered to construct a lift irrigation project with his own funds.

Karumanchi Prasad, Chairman of Prasad Seeds, a leading seed manufacturing company, has announced a generous contribution of Rs.10 crore for the construction of a lift irrigation scheme in Kummamuru, located in Kakumanu mandal of Guntur district. The project aims to provide stable irrigation to nearly 5,315 acres of agricultural land, resolving long-standing water scarcity issues in the region. Despite the presence of the Kummamuru canal, water fails to reach the tail-end areas, causing distress among farmers. Recognizing this, Prasad responded to the Chief Minister’s P4 appeal and expressed his readiness to partner with the government to execute the lift irrigation project. The initiative is expected to benefit not only his native village of Kakumanu but also neighboring areas including BK Palem, Appapuram, Garikapadu, and Kondapathuru.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu appreciated Prasad’s generous and timely gesture, calling it an example for others to follow. He instructed the Water Resources Department officials to coordinate with Prasad Seeds and expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The CM emphasized that Prasad's selfless act reflects the true spirit of the P4 initiative and expressed satisfaction that people are coming forward to support the government’s mission.
