Residents of the newly formed Kesamudram Municipality have voiced growing concern over the deteriorating drainage system, alleging that incomplete infrastructure works have led to stagnant sewage, foul smell, and a rising mosquito menace across the town. Kesamudram Municipality was recently formed by merging Kesamudram Station, Kesamudram Village, Dhanasari, Sub-Station Thanda and Ameenapuram villages. With former Mahabubabad MLA, Rajya Sabha MP and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's advisor Vem Narender Reddy hailing from Kesamudram, several development projects were launched to improve the town's infrastructure.

However, removal of the old drains without replacing them has resulted in sewage accumulating in front of homes and commercial establishments, creating unhygienic conditions throughout the town. Residents say the stagnant wastewater has led to a persistent foul smell and an increase in mosquito breeding, raising concerns about public health. Many property owners reportedly demolished portions of their houses and shops to provide the required setback for the road expansion project.

However, since some structures are yet to be set back, drainage construction has remained incomplete. Residents argue that authorities should not have dismantled the existing drainage system before ensuring that the new network could be built. As a result, sewage continues to stagnate, leaving large parts of Kesamudram grappling with sanitation issues. According to locals, even the drain outside the residence of Municipal Vice-Chairperson Dr. Allam Rama was removed during the project but has not yet been reconstructed. Sewage has reportedly accumulated in the area, creating foul-smelling conditions.
