Several Bollywood celebrities have extended their support to engineer and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 19 days at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. Among those who have spoken in his favour are Sonakshi Sinha and Fatima Sana Shaikh, with each urging dialogue while expressing concern over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health and the future of students.

Aaj mujhse raha nahi jaa raha, says Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha shared a video on Instagram, saying she could no longer remain silent on the issue. “Aaj mujhse raha nahi jaa raha,” she said, adding that Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike for students’ future and questioning why “nobody cares” or is willing to start a dialogue. The actress also clarified that she wants the betterment of the country and is not “anti-national”. She said she would not ask Wangchuk to end his fast, asking, “When is it going to be enough?”

Heartbreaking to watch: Fatima Sana Shaikh

Actress Fatima expressed concern over Wangchuk’s worsening health and called for immediate dialogue. “It’s now been 19 days! We cannot keep waiting until it’s too late to start listening... It’s really very heartbreaking to watch someone like him deteriorate like this,” she wrote on Instagram. She added, “I hope this ends with dialogue, not us losing Sonam Wangchuk... The youth of today will carry this nation forward.”
