Apollo Hospitals Joint Managing Director, Dr. Sangita Reddy, emphasized that India is currently witnessing a millet revolution, and urged everyone to include millets in their daily diet. She highlighted that millets are rich in nutrients and have a positive impact on the digestive system.
Speaking at a grand event held in Hyderabad on Thursday, she announced that Tenali Double Horse Group has partnered with Millet Marvels to venture into the millet business. During the event, they launched 18 products across four categories – noodles, grains, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-serve.
Dr. Sangita Reddy, the chief guest for the launch, stated that our ancestors regularly consumed millets and that it’s time we revive those dietary habits. She stressed the importance of bringing back the millet culture to the nation. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, she noted that Dr. Bharat, founder of Millet Marvels, had established the company even before that with this vision in mind. She encouraged people to incorporate millets into their regular meals, explaining that millets are high in fiber and micronutrients, and adopting them as a habit is essential—especially in times when lifestyle-related diseases are becoming a growing threat.
She also shared a personal example of her father, Dr. Prathap Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, who is 92 years old and still includes millets in at least one meal a day. She suggested that rather than consuming the same type of millet every day, rotating different millets can yield better health results.
Tenali Double Horse Group CMD Mohan Shyam stated that the group has officially entered the millet business through its collaboration with Millet Marvels, launching 18 products. He also announced their upcoming entry into the organic products sector. The newly launched products will be available via e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, and local grocery stores, starting at a price of Rs. 85.
