The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to formulate a well-structured tourism policy for the state by February 10. He emphasized that the new policy should draw insights from the best tourism models in the country and abroad while focusing on making Telangana a prime destination for both domestic and international tourists.
Highlighting the significance of temple and eco-tourism, the Chief Minister instructed officials to develop strategic plans to enhance these sectors during a comprehensive review on state Tourism department he chaired on Wednesday evening. He stressed the need for a joint approach between the Revenue, Forest, and Tourism departments to attract devotees and tourists, especially during the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara.
CM also suggested developing a circuit connecting nearby temples and tourist attractions to enrich the visitor experience. Additionally, the government aims to leverage the Godavari and Krishna Pushkarams by preparing plans to draw pilgrims from across the country for the sacred river baths.
On the eco-tourism front, the Chief Minister called for the identification and development of potential locations, particularly in Adilabad, Warangal, and Nagarjuna Sagar. He urged officials to study and adopt Singapore-style eco-tourism policies to maximize Telangana’s natural and cultural assets.
Revanth also proposed examining the feasibility of developing a tourism circuit connecting Sanjeevaiah Park, NTR Park, and Indira Park around Hussain Sagar to enhance urban tourism in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister stressed that the new tourism policy should not only boost Telangana’s recognition on the global tourism map but also generate substantial revenue for the state. The government is committed to making Telangana a preferred destination by integrating cultural, spiritual, and eco-tourism experiences.
