Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Pawan Kalyan, inaugurated a Mini Gokulam (cow shelter) at Kumarapuram in the Pithapuram constituency on Friday. The Gokulam, constructed near the Sri Krishna temple, was formally handed over to a local farmer, Yatham Nageswara Rao, along with four cows.

The Mini Gokulam, built at a cost of Rs.1.85 lakh, was funded under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Pawan Kalyan also officiated the statewide launch of 12,500 such Mini Gokulams, marking a record achievement in completing the shelters within a remarkably short time.

As part of the ceremonial inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister performed traditional rituals, including breaking a coconut and worshipping the cows. He offered fodder to the animals and inspected the construction quality and facilities of the cow shelter.

Pawan Kalyan interacted with officials from the Animal Husbandry Department to understand the infrastructure provided in the shelters. The Deputy CM also visited an exhibition organized by the Animal Husbandry Department, which showcased initiatives aimed at supporting dairy farmers.

The exhibition highlighted the provision of fodder, the availability of green feed resources, and measures being taken for the development of livestock. Pawan Kalyan closely examined the exhibits and praised the department's efforts in supporting rural livelihoods.

Prominent dignitaries who attended the event included Member of Parliament Tangella Uday Srinivas, Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Shashibhushan Kumar, Commissioner Krishna Teja, District Collector Shan Mohan Sagili, SP Vikrant Patil, and various local leaders and officials. Also present were key representatives from Jana Sena, TDP, and BJP, including Marreddy Srinivas, SVSN Varma, and Krishnamraju.
