Daayra of dark shades

Prithviraj Sukumaran has built a career on playing characters who exist in the grey. Across Malayalam and Hindi cinema, he has consistently gravitated towards complex roles.

In Malayalam films like Mumbai Police (2013), Jana Gana Mana (2022) and Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), Prithviraj portrayed roles of cops which explore justice, pride, power and morality.

His latest project, the Hindi crime thriller Daayra, continues that trajectory. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film sees Prithviraj once again play a male DCP, stepping into another morally complex conflict alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film will hit the silver screens on September 18, 2026.
