Chandrababu condemns alleged attack on sports quota teachers

Metro India News | VIJAYAWADA : Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned the alleged attempt by YSR Congress Party activists to attack teachers selected under the sports quota in the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment process, warning that the government would not tolerate violence, intimidation or disorder in the State. Reacting to the incident while on a visit to Kuppam, Naidu said attacks on teachers would be dealt with firmly and those responsible would face stringent action.

The incident occurred at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office in Vijayawada, where teachers selected under the sports quota had gathered to submit representations regarding allegations surrounding their appointments. The selected teachers reportedly wanted to meet Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, SAAP officials and the managing director to explain that their selection had been transparent and that their sports certificates and medal credentials were genuine.

At the same time, YSRCP leaders and supporters gathered at the SAAP office as part of their protest against alleged irregularities in the sports quota component of the DSC recruitment. The two groups engaged in counter-sloganeering, leading to a heated exchange. Police intervened after tensions escalated. The YSRCP has alleged irregularities in the DSC selection process, particularly in appointments made under the sports quota, and has demanded a CBI probe.

The party had also announced plans to lay siege to the SAAP office. Police, however, said no permission had been granted for the proposed protest. With Ganesh immersion processions also taking place in Vijayawada, authorities cited law-and-order concerns and warned that unauthorized rallies or demonstrations would attract legal action. Notices were reportedly issued to YSRCP leaders, including Penamaluru constituency in-charge Devabhaktuni Chakravarthi.

The CM said those with grievances over recruitment could approach courts or other appropriate legal forums instead of resorting to physical confrontation. He challenged the opposition to bring documentary evidence regarding alleged irregularities in sports quota appointments before the Assembly.
