Former Minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Wednesday said the Congress party has no moral right to ask for votes, accusing the state government of failing to implement its election promises.
Campaigning in Gaddapotharam and Gummididala municipalities in the Patancheru Assembly constituency, Harish Rao said none of the six guarantees promised by the ruling Congress were fulfilled even after more than two years in office.
He alleged that women were yet to receive Rs.2,500 under the Mahalaxmi scheme, farmers had not received Rs.15,000 under Rythu Bharosa, elderly citizens were denied Rs.4,000 pensions, students were deprived of fee reimbursement and the promise of two lakh jobs remained unfulfilled.
Harish Rao claimed that the pensions of nearly two lakh beneficiaries were cut and accused the government of failing to provide adequate power supply to farmers. He asserted that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao consistently supported farmers through the Rythu Bandhu scheme, depositing Rs.82,000 crore into farmers’ accounts. He alleged that the Congress had cheated minorities and said the free bus travel scheme was the only initiative implemented by the government, but even that scheme had fizzled out as they have imposed double ticket rates for the men.
