Collector warns officials over paddy procurement delays

Mahabubabad District Collector Sneha Shabarish has ordered strict action against officials found negligent in the management of paddy and maize procurement operations in the district. She directed special officers to intensify field-level inspections and ensure speedy procurement so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

The Collector conducted surprise inspections in Narsimhulapet and Chinnagudur mandals of Mahabubabad district on Tuesday. She visited procurement centres at Peddanagaram and Vasuruthanda and reviewed the ongoing grain procurement process. During the inspection, she found lapses in record maintenance, grain quality verification, and distribution of gunny bags at centres operated under Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies.

Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the functioning of staff, the Collector directed officials to initiate action against concerned cooperative and agriculture department personnel for negligence in duties. She warned that strict measures would be taken if farmers are subjected to hardship due to delays or mismanagement in procurement, transport, and related operations. She also instructed that procurement coupons must be issued only after proper verification of grain moisture levels as per government norms. Officials were told to keep sufficient transport vehicles and hamali workers ready to ensure smooth and faster loading and unloading of stocks.
