Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday proposed developing the State Assembly premises on the lines of the Parliament complex in New Delhi, with a focus on modernisation while preserving its historic character.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting with Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, and senior officials on Monday to discuss civil works planned within the legislature campus.

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy recommended that the proposed Central Hall be completed before the next Assembly session. He said the facility would serve as an important space within the legislature premises.

He also suggested creating a dedicated members’ club in the Public Garden area of the Assembly complex, along with a walking track and sports facilities for legislators.

The Chief Minister stressed that all construction and renovation works must be carried out without causing any harm to the heritage structures in the premises. He also called for stronger security arrangements across the Assembly complex. The legislature campus includes the renovated Nizam-era old Assembly hall, which now houses the Legislative Council.

The heritage building originally functioned as the Town Hall during the Nizam rule and later served as the Legislative Assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh until the mid-1980s. A new Assembly building was later constructed behind the heritage structure to accommodate all 294 MLAs of undivided Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana Legislative Assembly currently functions in this building.
