The Telangana Legislative Assembly witnessed unprecedented scenes on Sunday when BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy allegedly abused senior Congress MLA Kadiyam Srihari and made gun-clicking gestures threatening to kill him. The incident triggered pandemonium in the House.

Congress MLAs demanded immediate cancellation of Padi Kaushik Reddy’s membership to set a strong example against unruly behaviour. On the suggestion of Leader of the House and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Assembly passed a resolution referring the matter to the Ethics Committee for detailed inquiry and recommendation of suitable action.

Suspension of BRS MLAs

From the beginning of the day's proceedings BRS leaders took up the Raghava Constructions issue. BRS legislators even rushed to the Speaker’s podium in protest, demanding the formation of a House Committee to probe alleged irregularities in the mining sector under the Congress regime, immediate sacking of Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, and action against Raghava Constructions for alleged illegal mining. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao warned that the party would approach the Governor if the government failed to act. Following the disruption, the Assembly suspended all participating BRS MLAs for the remaining two days of the budget session.

BRS Open Letter to CM

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislature Party has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, strongly demanding a comprehensive and impartial probe into the alleged surge in corruption and irregularities that have taken place during the Congress regime in the last two-and-a-half years.

In the letter, signed by BRS legislators, the party described the increasing number of scams and irregularities as “a matter of shame and a stain on democracy.” The BRS reminded the Chief Minister of his own statement made in the Assembly that the government would take action if concrete details regarding the alleged irregularities were provided.

The party listed several specific areas that require urgent and thorough investigation. These include civil supplies scams, irregularities in AMRUT tenders, the KLSR Infra tenders scam, Singareni scams, irregularities in solar and thermal power projects, land scams involving HCU and Lagacherla lands, the prohibited lands scam, manipulations in the excise policy, irregularities in HAM roads, the TDR (Transfer of Development Rights) scam, issues related to the HILT (Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation) policy, concerns over the Fourth City project, and illegal mining activities.

The BRS Legislature Party urged the Chief Minister to immediately order an impartial inquiry into all these matters, preferably through a judicial commission or a House Committee with active participation of the opposition. The party argued that such a probe was essential to uncover the truth, fix accountability, and restore public faith in governance and democratic institutions in Telangana.

CM Revanth Reddy’s Point-by-Point Rebuttal

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a sharp counter-offensive in the House. He reminded the BRS that the Kaleshwaram project scam was not merely a Congress allegation but one endorsed by the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. He recalled how BJP leaders, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, had promised to send KCR and Harish Rao to jail within 48 hours if the case was handed over to the CBI. The Congress government acted on that promise, yet no arrests followed, he pointed out, alleging a secret understanding between BRS and BJP during the parliamentary elections.

Revanth Reddy also accused Harish Rao’s brother Mahesh Rao of allegedly threatening private industrialists in Mahabubnagar district’s Balanagar area and grabbing hundreds of acres through the Dharani portal. He challenged the BRS to support a House Committee probe into these specific allegations if Harish Rao and KTR truly believed in their leader’s integrity.

On the mining issue, the Chief Minister defended the government’s transparent reforms that increased revenue without harming public interest. He stated that the Mines Department had taken action against Raghava Constructions after verifying facts in 2025 and invited the BRS to submit any evidence directly to the CBI or CID instead of seeking a House Committee for political blackmail. He emphasised that the Congress government had ordered a comprehensive CBI/CID probe into a decade of illegal mining and mineral loot and would punish the guilty.

Revanth Reddy further exposed what he called the BRS’s “anti-Dalit” mindset. He reminded the House that KCR had promised to make a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana but reneged after the state’s formation, occupied the post himself, abolished the Deputy CM post, and gave ministerial berths to only one Dalit leader in 2018. He contrasted this with the Congress government’s record, where Dalit leader Bhatti Vikramarka now serves as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, and several other Dalit leaders hold key positions.

The Chief Minister appealed to all parties to provide evidence on illegal mining to the authorities so that the government could ensure complete accountability and continue its agenda of increasing revenue for the welfare of the poor.
