BRS Gadwal constituency in-charge Basu Hanumanthu Naidu on Sunday criticized the budget presented by the Congress government alleging that it does not deliver justice to Dalits, Backward Classes (BCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and minorities and termed it a betrayal of weaker sections.
He accused the government of cheating BCs both in terms of the promised 42% political reservations and budget allocations. Despite promising Rs 20,000 crore annually, he said, the government allocated only Rs 33,116 crore across three budgets. He expressed disappointment that the budget neglected the erstwhile Palamuru region and the Gadwal constituency.
No funds were allocated for pending works of projects like Nettampadu, Bhima, and Jurala or for canal modernization, he said, further stating that the Rs 22,615 crore allocated to irrigation would only cover pending dues and would not support new irrigation projects.
Naidu also expressed disappointment that the second phase funding for the Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme was not mentioned in the budget.
