Andhra Pradesh Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to developing the film industry in Andhra Pradesh, stating that Amaravati would be promoted as a major destination for cinema and the creative economy.
The minister was the chief guest at the grand launch of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 112th film, held at the BITS Pilani Grounds in Velagapudi, marking the first major film launch event to be hosted in the people’s capital, Amaravati.
Lokesh participated in the traditional inaugural rituals and formally launched the film by giving the ceremonial clap. Balakrishna’s daughter, Tejaswini Nandamuri, switched on the camera to commence the shoot.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh said it was his first time attending a film launch ceremony and thanked Balakrishna for the opportunity. “I consider it a privilege to be part of this special occasion. Under Balakrishna’s leadership and with the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, we are committed to promoting the film industry on a large scale in Amaravati,” he said.
The minister noted that the government’s vision extends beyond cinema to nurturing the broader creator economy, including digital content, media and entertainment sectors. He said the government is focused on creating world-class infrastructure to support filmmaking and creative industries in the state.
Describing Amaravati as a sacred land with immense potential, Lokesh expressed hope that many more film projects would be launched from the capital city in the coming years, contributing to its growth as a cultural and creative hub.
The event was attended by Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh, filmmaker Koratala Siva, producers Cherukuri Sudhakar and D. Suresh Babu, MLAs Tenali Sravan Kumar and M.S. Raju, along with several prominent personalities from the film industry and political circles.
