Amaravati: Former MP Vijayasai Reddy expressed gratitude to the President for granting assent to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh with retrospective effect from June 2, 2024. He described the move as historic but emphasized that its true significance will depend on effective implementation by the state government.
He pointed out that despite the TDP being in power for seven years since 2014, Amaravati has not witnessed the level of development expected of a priority capital city. He also noted that the previous YSRCP government had neglected Amaravati while pursuing alternative plans for the state capital.
Vijayasai Reddy reiterated his stance that the focus should now be on restoring the cancelled 50,000 land pattas allocated to the needy and accelerating infrastructure development in Amaravati. He stressed the need to build an inclusive, people-centric capital that goes beyond caste, creed, and religion.
