The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has directed all international airport operators across the country to furnish details of available aviation fuel stocks and projected requirements for the next seven days, amid rising tensions in West Asia that could potentially disrupt global oil supplies.
Sources said the move is a precautionary measure aimed at assessing preparedness and ensuring uninterrupted flight operations in case of any supply chain disruptions. The directive follows instructions from the civil aviation ministry as the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran intensifies, raising concerns over the stability of energy shipments.
Airport operators have been asked to provide comprehensive data, including current fuel stock levels, average daily consumption, estimated requirement for the coming week, and the date of the next scheduled replenishment. Officials said the information would help authorities closely monitor the situation and take timely steps if required.
India currently has 33 international airports, including major hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. According to official data, there were 355 international departures and 344 arrivals recorded across Indian airports on March 2, underscoring the scale of operations that depend on steady fuel availability.
