YSRCP leader Vamsi arrested on charges of kidnapping

YSRCP leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad on Thursday on charges of kidnapping and threatening Satyavardhan who was the complainant in the 2023 attack on the Telugu Desam Party office in Gannavaram.

Police have registered a case on the complaint of Satyavardhan, who works at the party office. However, suddenly the complainant Satyavardhan gave an affidavit in the court stating that he had nothing to do with the case. Three days ago, Satyavardhan withdrew his complaint in connection with the case.

However, the police received information that Satyavardhan was kidnapped, threatened and made to withdraw the complaint. Satyavardhan was taken into custody by the police and questioned. He said he was kidnapped and threatened by Vamsi's followers and made to withdraw the complaint. Following this, the police registered a case of kidnapping against Vallabhaneni Vamsi and four other persons in this connection.

The police received information that Vamsi was staying in an apartment in Hyderabad's Rayadurg. Based on the information, the police reached there in the wee hours of Thursday. He was arrested and brought to Vijayawada. A case has been registered under BNS sections 140(1), 308, 351(3) and read with 3(5). Notices were pasted on his houseA case of SC/ST atrocities has also been filed. 

After being brought to Vijayawada, he was interrogated at Krishnalanka police station while the police asked the complainant Satyavardhan for all the details at Patamata Police Station. The police collected the details of the vehicle that brought Satyavardhan to the court and the details of those who came in it through CCTV footage. Technical evidence was also collected on the issue of where all Satyavardhan was taken around in the city. In Gannavaram and Vijayawada, the police kept an eye on Vamsi's followers. Vijayawada CP Rajasekhar Babu has already announced that he has all the evidence.

After interrogating Vamshi for nearly 8-9 hours, he was taken to the Government General Hospital Vijayawada for medical examination and from there he was produced before the 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Vijayawada at around 11 PM in the night.

After listening to arguments from both sides, at around 2 PM the Magistrate Justice Rammohan remanded Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan along with Shivarama Krishna Prasad and Lakshmipathy to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the kidnapping case. They were shifted to the district jail at Hanumanpet in Vijayawada.
