20-year jail term in POCSO case

A Fast Track Special Court in L.B. Nagar has sentenced a 35-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case registered by Pahadishareef Police Station. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 and awarded Rs 3 lakh compensation to the survivor.

The conviction relates to Crime No. 96 of 2023, registered under sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following trial proceedings in S.C. No. 125/2024, the court found the accused, Rajendra, a labourer originally from Bidar district in Karnataka and residing in Hyderabad, guilty of all charges.

Police said the conviction was secured through a detailed investigation and effective prosecution. The case was investigated by then ACP Maheshwaram P. Laxmikanth Reddy, while Additional Public Prosecutors Shoba Rani and P. Satyanarayana represented the prosecution.

Hyderabad Police said the verdict reflects its commitment to ensuring justice in crimes against children.
