Warangal Police have stepped up efforts to curb the illegal ganja trade, with Commissioner Sunpreet Singh, IPS, directing officers to target supply networks and key operatives behind drug distribution. Chairing a crime review meeting at Kakatiya Medical College, the Commissioner emphasised that protecting youth from falling into substance abuse is a top priority.

He instructed officials not to restrict action to apprehending users but to identify and arrest main suppliers and financiers. Special teams are to be formed to trace the origin of supply and dismantle organised networks operating within and beyond the commissionerate limits.

During the meeting, a detailed review of pending cases, arrests, ongoing investigations, and execution of warrants was conducted. The Commissioner also assessed the performance of station officers and field staff, calling for proactive policing to prevent crimes before they occur.

Strict action was ordered against gambling activities, especially in suburban areas, and history sheets are to be opened against habitual offenders involved in thefts. Officers were told to ensure installation and geo-tagging of CCTV cameras in crime-prone areas, including MGM Hospital surroundings and railway station limits.

The Commissioner further directed firm measures against illegal sand transportation and diversion of ration rice, warning that any negligence would lead to departmental action.
