Waqf board holds meeting at Vijayawada

The 3rd board meeting of Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Abdul Aziz at the Waqf Board office at Kaleshwara Rao Market in Vijayawada on Wednesday. A unanimous resolution was passed on the agendas presented on the occasion.

On this occasion, several managing committees and several mutavallis were appointed. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman  Abdul Aziz said that a new scheme is being launched to provide free education to Muslims and the details of the same will be announced very soon. He said a rent review committee has been appointed to revise the rents of Waqf properties. He stated that from 2025-26 to 2027-28, 933 acres of waqf properties under direct management will be leased out.

He also informed on the occasion that to develop waqf lands that can be used for commercial purposes in the state, developers, institutions and industrialists of national and international level will be invited under the expression of interest through long-term lease or public-private partnership (PPP).

Solar power projects, industrial establishments, commercial complexes, educational institutions, hospitals and other commercial projects are likely to be developed on these lands, he mentioned. The meeting was attended by members of the Board who include Member of Legislative Council Mohammad Ruhullah, MLA Mohammad Naseer, Khaja, Akram, Ismail Baig, Aafia, Muqram Hussain, Dawood Bhasha Baqavi and Bepari Zakir Ahmed CEO Mohammad Ali and other Waqf officials.
