Vijayasai Reddy targets Sajjala, YSRCP over liquor case and Amaravati

Former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy launched a fresh attack on the YSR Congress Party leadership on Wednesday, accusing its leaders of having only political love for the people and targeting former government adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy over his role in the party’s affairs. Addressing a media conference in Visakhapatnam, Vijayasai Reddy alleged that Sajjala was responsible for portraying him negatively before YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and claimed that the party had used him until it came to power before sidelining him. He also alleged that conspiracies and a campaign had been carried out against him.

Vijayasai Reddy strongly denied having any involvement in the alleged liquor scam during the previous YSRCP government. Referring to the investigation, he claimed that Raj Kesireddy was the “author, executor and driving force” behind the alleged scam, and said he had already shared whatever information he knew with the Special Investigation Team. Vijayasai Reddy also announced that he would soon disclose the name of his proposed new political party and subsequently undertake a padayatra. He said his political initiative would focus on issues concerning the State and its regions.

On the capital issue, Vijayasai Reddy said he was not opposed to Amaravati and termed any move to shift the capital unwise. He said Amaravati should be developed as a capital representing people across communities. He proposed establishing a Regional Development Authority for North Andhra, while accusing the YSRCP of going back on its earlier position on making Visakhapatnam the State capital. He demanded that the party apologize to the people of North Andhra for what he described as a failure to fulfil its promise.

He also questioned Jagan’s current political position, alleging that the YSRCP president was pursuing U-turn politics and seeking an alliance with the Congress. Vijayasai Reddy asked how Jagan could now describe the Visakhapatnam capital proposal differently after previously advocating the city as the executive capital. The former MP also questioned whether the present YSRCP leadership in Visakhapatnam could deliver victory in the forthcoming civic political battles.
