Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that a model colony for the poor will be constructed in Velugumatla of Khammam district headquarters, in such a way that people from other states in the country will come and observe it.

He stated that the remaining 16 acres of land in Velugumatla village, after distributing house sites to the poor, will be utilised for the construction of a Telangana Public School and other government educational institutions.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the government will not only construct Indiramma houses for the poor on Bhoodan lands, but will also provide all basic amenities such as electricity, drinking water, roads, a hospital, a community hall, and a shopping complex.

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to begin the construction of Indiramma houses from Thursday and ensure that the construction in the model colony is completed by December 9. He said that three Ministers together will invite Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and by December 9 the houses must be completed and ready for housewarming ceremonies to be conducted by the Chief Minister.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that this reflects the government’s commitment to the poor. Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the previous rulers, saying that for ten years they kept promising houses for the poor, but not a single house was delivered, making the poor wait endlessly with hope and disappointment. He said those who failed to deliver even a single house have no moral right to criticise the present government.

The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that some people are deliberately spreading misinformation and trying to malign the government because they do not want the poor to benefit from such welfare initiatives.

He said that for several years, a mafia network in Velugumatla had been collecting money from poor people and running a parallel system without providing even basic facilities. The government has now taken steps to ensure that the poor can live with dignity and self-respect.

Bhatti Vikramarka said that 412 eligible beneficiaries in Velugumatla have been identified and house site pattas distributed without any discrimination, and Indiramma houses will be constructed for them. In addition, 101 poor beneficiaries from different districts have been granted permission letters to construct Indiramma houses on lands available in their respective villages.

The Deputy Chief Minister advised both the poor and the officials to ensure that mafia forces that exploit the helplessness of the poor are not allowed to come anywhere near them.
