‘SSB’s services in curbing drug and human trafficking are commendable’

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday stated that the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) deserves credit for effectively curbing the trafficking of narcotics, weapons and humans as well as illegal migration, counterfeit currency circulation, wildlife-related crimes and other organized crimes along the nation's borders under challenging conditions. He expressed satisfaction that the SSB had prioritized the use of modern technology and contemporary methods in border management.

The Union Minister inaugurated new residential buildings for 48 jawans constructed by the SSB on a 50-acre site near Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district. He also inspected the newly constructed housing complex along with  officials. He inquired about the facilities and welfare measures being provided to the jawans. Subsequently, the Union Minister, along with Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Director General Sanjay Singhal and senior officials attended a scheduled event.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he said that he was delighted to inaugurate the 48 dedicated family residential quarters constructed at the Ibrahimpatnam campus in Hyderabad along with the families of the Sashastra Seema Bal. “I extend my special congratulations to all the officials, engineers, construction firms and other staff members,  who worked hard to successfully complete the construction of these residential quarters.

These 48 residential units are not merely buildings but they symbolize the priority and commitment the Central Government accords to the welfare of the jawans of our Central Armed Police Forces and their families. It is the responsibility of both the government and the organization to ensure that the families of the jawans, who stand guard at the nation's borders to protect its security, live safely with dignity and in comfort. When a jawan is free from anxiety regarding the safety and well-being of his family, he can focus entirely on the border security and service to the nation.

That is why the welfare of Central Armed Police Forces personnel and the provision of the better housing facilities remain among the government's top priorities. The government is continuously taking measures to ensure that adequate housing facilities are available to the jawans. The 48 residential quarters being inaugurated today are a significant part of that ongoing effort,” he said .

 He noted that the Government of India takes great pride in the SSB jawans,  who effectively combat challenges along the open borders such as the trafficking of narcotics, arms, and humans, illegal migration, counterfeit currency circulation, wildlife crimes and other forms of organized crime and added that he was pleased that the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was prioritising the use of the modern technology and contemporary methods in border management. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the guidance of the Home Minister,

the Central Government is fully committed to the welfare and improved living standards of our jawans through the modernization of the forces. We are placing special emphasis on providing quality medical care and modern housing for the families of these personnel as well as ensuring access to good education, modern schools and sports activities for their children. Through these measures, we aim to ensure that all paramilitary forces remain mentally resilient and capable of performing their duties with high efficiency,” he said.
