US delegation meets Hyderabad Mayor

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) signed a Sister City agreement with Indiana State, USA, in 2010. In line with this partnership, a delegation from Indiana visited Hyderabad and met Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi at the GHMC headquarters on Wednesday. The Mayor warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed her gratitude for their visit. 

During the meeting, the Indiana representatives shared details of various initiatives undertaken as part of the Sister City agreement. They also remarked on Hyderabad's remarkable development compared to previous years. 

Mayor Vijayalakshmi highlighted the state government's efforts to expand GHMC's jurisdiction and transform Hyderabad into a global city. She elaborated on plans for constructing a Triple R Ring Road around Hyderabad, with initial work already underway in the northern region. 

The Mayor also discussed infrastructure improvements, including road widening, flyovers, and traffic control measures worth Rs 7,032 crores, aimed at enhancing Hyderabad's global city status. She urged the delegation to support educational development in the city, to which they responded positively, assuring their cooperation. 

Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, Chinta L. Raju, Chief Advisor of Growth and Strategy, and other officials participated in the meeting. The delegation invited the Mayor to visit Indiana, promising to host her with their team. Mayor Vijayalakshmi thanked them for the invitation.
