Several tribal settlements along the route from Yerragondapalem to Srisailam have remained without electricity and constructive activity would end by dusk. Not anymore. With an investment of Rs.2.20 crore, the energy department successfully completed electrification in six villages, providing electricity to 956 tribal households.

Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar spearheaded a remarkable electrification initiative. His efforts have illuminated the homes of numerous tribal families in the remote hamlets of Yerragondapalem constituency in Prakasam district. Minister Ravi Kumar conducted a survey with energy department officials. The survey identified 1,750 tribal households across several villages that lacked access to electricity.

For 611 families residing in the Tiger Reserve Zone, where traditional electrification is challenging, the minister announced a sustainable solution. These families will soon receive uninterrupted power supply through solar battery systems, ensuring their inclusion in the state's development initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ravi Kumar highlighted the government's commitment to uplifting tribal communities, particularly the Chenchus, who face extreme poverty. “The coalition government firmly believes in the principle that serving the poor is akin to serving God. Electrification is just one step towards improving the living standards of our tribal brothers and sisters,” he said.

The minister also emphasized the government's plans to expand solar-powered solutions for agricultural activities in tribal areas. He assured that all necessary support would be provided to the Chenchus, including employment opportunities through the MGNREGA scheme.

“Under this government, we are working towards ensuring equal rights and opportunities for tribal communities. The electrification of remote hamlets is a testament to this commitment,” Minister Ravi Kumar stated.
