Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has directed officials to strengthen enforcement in the Transport Department to enhance revenue while ensuring that citizens are not inconvenienced. He chaired a State-level review meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat.

The Minister noted that the department generated Rs 6,910.90 crore in 2024–25 and Rs 7,097.38 crore in 2025–26, with a slight dip attributed to the EV policy. He advised officials to explore alternative revenue streams and improve enforcement mechanisms to offset the impact.

Commending officers who achieved revenue targets, particularly in Life Tax and Quarterly Tax collections, he cautioned underperforming officials to improve efficiency. Special focus was laid on border districts to ensure strict compliance of vehicle taxes from neighboring states.

Highlighting reforms, the Minister said Telangana secured the top position nationally within eight months of implementing the SARATHI system. He directed officials to complete VAHAN portal data and eliminate technical issues to ensure seamless services.

He stressed the importance of road safety initiatives, including the “Arrive Alive” campaign and awareness on schemes like the Rahaveer Scheme, which provides financial aid and cashless treatment to accident victims.

The Minister instructed officials to expedite the operationalization of Automatic Testing Stations by June 1, extend training programs across all levels, and identify land for Transport Department offices in remaining districts.
